Origin
COVID-19, also known as Sars-Cov-2, is a contagious disease, characterized by inflammation of the respiratory tract, pneumonia, high fever, lack of breath. The first known case of the virus was traced
to Wuhan, China. Since then, it has gone infecting millions of people
and causing heavy death toll around the world. The disease was declared a pandemic by WHO in January 2020.
Spread
The virus gets transmitted via the respiratory route by coughing, sneezing, talking and even breathing. The droplets of infected person gets into the respiratory tract of healthy person and the virus starts multiplying in the tract rapidly , causing a state of pneumonia and eventually destroying bronchioles. The virus spreads exponentially , turning to local epidemic from a few cases in a short span of time.

India
The first case of COVID-19 in India, which originated from China, was reported on 30 January 2020. India presently has the highest number of infections in Asia. The double and triple mutant of the virus are presently wreaking havoc in the country with the country experiencing a 2nd wave, causing huge surge in infected cases and deaths.
